Oh man. GOOD DAY TODAY!! I got 5 again!!
Since I got 5 yesterday, I got to go up to NW 23rd with Karen and Zach. It was literally one of the best days ever too!
I signed up a guy who used to work for Greenpeace in the first hour, and then I worked with Karen and she signed up Amanda Seyfried from Mama Mia and Mean Girls! It was so amazing!! I totally recognized her and was about to tell her she looked like Amanda Seyfried but then I waited until she she wrote her name on the sponsorship form and it was totally her! It was pretty rad because she was SOOOO sweet and nice and gave Karen and I hugs and everything :) She was in town filming a movie so it was awesome!
Anyways then I signed up this guy named Phil who was full of one-liners and was from Ogden Utah so we had fun talking about how much we don't really love Utah and eventually he signed up. It was pretty sweet!
The next guy was a sailor and it took a long time to convince him to sign up because he was torn about how little the donation was and he couldn't do enough. It was so funny.
My last two sign ups were literally angels. I stopped this girl because I liked her earrings and then we talked about them and then I told her like one thing about the organization and she just took the form from me and signed up. It was truly a gift! She was like "I like to live my life with a purpose.." It was amazing! She came over with every intention of doing it! The last guy did not want to stop for me, but I told him I wanted him to have a great day, and that he would by sponsoring a kid. He didn't want to stop so I just let him go and said have a great day. About 2 minutes later he came back and I was jokingly like, "Aww you came back for me, that's so sweet!" Because I always say that to people jokingly, but he was like "Actually, yes" Haha He was like do you take cash? And pulls out a wad of $100 bills. I was like Nope just Debit or Credit. He asked how much and for how long and I told him, and then he was like, well, okay. And I signed him up. What what?? Haha it was GREAT!!
It was funny today because we were in front of this bookstore and the lady got really mad at us and called the cops because we were "panhandling." The cops all know us though, so when he got there he told us we didn't have to leave. It was pretty ridiculous that a bookstore meant to make $ to support the local library would call the cops on us for trying to give kids the opportunity to learn to read and write. It was pretty ridiculous, but we weren't doing anything wrong so I felt no need to be nice to her because she was just on a power trip. It was just silly. But ultimately it didn't dampen my mood because I was just having a great day. I was literally glowing I was so happy :) YEEEE!
Life is interesting these days. These are my ramblings. Things I've Learned. Things that make me happy.
Life is good

PR!!
So all that stuff about forgetting about numbers and just focusing on the people and making connections with them really works! Man, That was my goal today. I had a nice chat during first break about how important that was, and since I had a big old goose egg as my score, I was ready to take a new approach. After the break I worked with Taylor by the mall and I signed up a painter guy who came back for me and then he wasn't going to do it but I knew he had his debit card and he knew it was a good organization so I followed him up the elevator to the top story of the parking structure and signed him up. It was great! about 10 minutes later I signed up my second guy after walking him down the block and just chatting it up with him. He was all laughing because he never stops for canvassers and he blew off one of the San Fran girls right before I stopped him but after our conversation, he took my binder and the form and just started filling it out. He was like 'I can do $22 a month..' It was awesome.
After that some girl tried to tell me that I should really look into my organization because the CEO makes 6 figures.. It just made me laugh because ignorance is the whole problem I'm working so hard to combat. I didn't let it dampen my spirits so it was great :)
After the next break i signed up my second woman ever! Her name was Aubrey and I stopped her because I really liked her necklace and we talked about the beach because that's where she got it and then she asks me what my book is for. So I talked to her about the organization and how much I LOVE IT and by the time I was done, she just told me to sign her up! I was soooo so happy. I seriously almost cried.
Right after that I had this awesome conversation about how important education is with these younger guys and they were both on board 100% and then one of them didn't have a bank account, but his friend who was visiting from Colorado did, so I got him to sign up. It was sooo great!
My last sign up was this great couple who were on a date night and after talking about the organization with them and talking about how we sponsor kids in th US and how some people do it in their kids' names and she was totally sold. Her husband just gave her the 'do it if you want' look and I got her. I was so on top of my game! I had a response for her every excuse and it was magical!
I finished on 5!! New personal record, and I was just soooo happy! Today was such a great day. I am so happy and it feels sooo good to have put so many kids in school! Definitely my best day so far!
I LOVE MY JOB!

i feel so good like.. i knew i would..
Man.. I gotta step up my game. I am fully capable of doing my job and putting tons of kids in school. I gotta do my thang and make it happen! It's the lulls that make the good days worth it, but this lull needs to be over and I am determined to make that happen TOMORROW. I have faith that I will be successful. I have lots of faith. I just gotta do work now.
I signed up some sweet guys today! Both of them basically convinced themselves, and the last guy had talked to me 3 times before I finally signed him up. It was pretty awesome :) The first guy Jordan was really nice and we just talked and then we just had an awesome chat and he signed up. Derek wasn't even going to sign up, but after I talked to him and his friend at Powell's I saw his friend again and then Cameron and I walked past them on our way back from break sitting outside a restaurant drinkin a beer. I started talking to him about his shirt because it said something about clean water and how many children die every year from dirty water, especially in places like Africa. We started talking about that and how important education is and I mentioned that Marissa is going to Uganda to teach the women there and that Richard is going to teach about microenterprise. He had actually heard of HELP international and he was totally excited about it! We talked for a second about that and then I was just like "this is why I do what I do man. We're giving these kids an opportunity to become educated and healthy so they can rise above the poverty they are faced with every day. Let's sponsor a kid!" It was so great because he basically convinced himself and just told me to get the form out. Sooooo great :) That made me really really happy! So even though I only got 2 today, I'm feeling good about it and tomorrow will be great! I'm feeling pretty confident about that fact :)
San Fransisco team beat us by 11 points, so they're in Portland and we're in playoff mode! We are sooooo gonna win this week. It's gonna be a good one :)

you can't escape the inevitable
After every high there comes a low right? right. Well, it came today. I let the jerks get to me, i let the rain get to me. I let myself go a LOT, and that was really dumb of me. Because I only got 2 sign ups. Boo. I can do better than that. I can do a ton better than that. So I'm committing right now to make tomorrow a lot better. Honestly, If I can keep my attitude in check and stay energetic and peppy all day. I know I'll get tons of sign ups because people will be drawn to me. It's a proven fact! Crazy huh?
I signed up this older guy today named Jeffery who was on his way to the hospital and he didn't think he was going to live very long, but i signed him up to sponsor a kid so he'd have someone to be accountable to. It was so great! My second sign up was pretty cool too. It was a guy who I had talked to before who was like, I'll do it next time.. The funny thing is that I don't remember talking to him, and he was the one who reminded me that he had said that before, so I just gave it to him straight and made him do it. He was like "I have no idea why I'm doing this right now, but you're a hard saleswoman." I've been getting comments like that a lot lately.. People keep telling me I should sell cars or something.. For some reason I don't think I could be as effective doing that though, because I don't know if I'm passionate enough about transportation to really want to make a difference. I'm good at my job because I really care about the cause and I am passionate about what I'm doing. I am rewarded by knowing that what I do MATTERS.
There were a few things that made me happy today though. Danny told me that he talked about me in his conference call with the bosses in New York. Whaaaat? He said they were all really impressed that I hit 2 fast tracks in one week and led the office with 17 sign ups last week. I need to step up my game and get it goin this week! I feel really positive about my progress thus far, and I want to keep that upward momentum going.
Also, there's this guy named James who works at the apple store in the mall. and he gets like a million breaks, so i see him ALL the time. He hasn't signed up yet, but I'll get him to do it sometime. Anyhow I always see him from really far away and I yell his name. We have this weird relationship where i say hi and hassle him about how he takes his lunch break at like 5pm every day.. and then he laughs and keeps walking. but today we actually talked and I almost signed him up. and i told him that i didn't believe he actually worked at apple and he was probably just stalking me.. haha that was a joke. but it was kinda funny. he came back a few minutes later and was like "Since the sun isn't out, I thought you could use some vitamin D" and gives me this drink thing. How sweet. I have the best stalker ever! haha anyways, that kind of made my day today! I'll take it as a good omen for tomorrow. I'll definitely have to wear my baby savin' chuck taylor's tomorrow.. They seem to be MAGIC!
That's the plan.
